How do I fix a "This app is blocked" error when reauthorizing Google Classroom access?

Inq-ITS recently improved its integration with Google Classroom so that educators are not logged out after one hour. Educator accounts created before July 2023 will be asked to reauthorize their connection to Google Classroom when they first log in.

Because of this upgrade, teachers in certain districts that use Google Workspace for Education may experience an issue when reauthorizing Inq-ITS' access. The error will look similar to this:

Rest assured, Inq-ITS is safe and verified by Google.

To correct this issue, you must manually disconnect from Google Classroom in your Google account's security settings, and then reconnect through Inq-ITS. The steps are as follows:

Revoking Inq-ITS access to Google Classroom

  1. Open a new browser tab and log into Inq-ITS using your Google credentials. Make sure that you can see your assignments page when you log in.
  2. Open another new web browser tab and go to google.com.
  3. In the top right corner of the page, click on your user icon and then "Manage your Google Account".

  1. A new screen will open up. On the left side of the screen, click on "Security"

  1. Scroll down to "Your connections to third-party apps & services". Look for Inq-ITS. You may need to click "see all connections" in blue to find Inq-ITS in the list. Click on Inq-ITS.

  1. Scroll down and click on "Delete all connections you have with Inq-ITS". It will ask you to confirm. Click "Confirm" and you will see a confirmation message. Make sure you do not log out of Inq-ITS at this point. If you accidentally log out, you will have to request for a password reset for the Google email you use to log in.

Reconnecting to Google Classroom

  1. Go back to the Inq-ITS tab. In the upper right corner, open up the menu and click on "Account Settings".

  1. Click on "Sign-in information", and then "Sign in with Google". Choose the email you wish to connect with Inq-ITS. Once complete, you should see a successful message from Inq-ITS.

  1. Click on "Connect to [Google Classroom icon]". Select the same email address you used to connect your Google account in the previous step. Then, choose "Select all" to grant Inq-ITS access to Google Classroom. Scroll down in that window and confirm your choice. A popup will appear confirming that Google Classroom has been connected.

You are now successfully reconnected! All of your existing assignments and classes connected to Google Classroom should be preserved.
